Description
This segment from the October 13, 1978, episode of “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a visit by the French Ambassador to the United States, Francois de LeBoulaye, to Baton Rouge. The Ambassador toured the French House on the LSU Campus and Southdowns Elementary School. The students at Southdowns, who are learning the French language through a Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL) program, performed the song “Allouette” for the Ambassador. He also participated in a press conference with Governor Edwin Edwards at the Governor’s Mansion, where both men discussed the relationship between France and Louisiana. Host: Ron Blome
