This special episode of the series “Louisiana Public Square” from February 22, 2017, features Robyn Merrick and Bob Mann moderating a town hall discussion at Star Hill Church in Baton Rouge on ways to improve the trust between police and the communities they serve. A background report on the shooting death of Alton Sterling and the deaths of three Baton Rouge police officers in an ambush in July 2016 precedes the discussion. The panelists are: Father Rick Andrus of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Together Baton Rouge; Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome; Deputy Chief Darrell Basco, the state president of the Fraternal Order of Police; State Representative Ted James; and Stephanie Riegel, the editor of the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.
