This episode of the series “Louisiana Public Square” from October 22, 2008, features Craig Freeman leading a discussion between the audience members and panelists on the upcoming 2008 Presidential Election. A background report on the topic precedes the discussion. It includes interviews with: former Governor Buddy Roemer; Scott Jordan, spokesman for the Louisiana Democratic Party; Dr. Wayne Parent, political science professor at Louisiana State University (LSU); Ashley Scott, delegate at the Democratic National Convention and Senator Barack Obama supporter. The audience members then discuss their views on the presidential candidates, United State Senator John McCain (R) and United States Senator Barack Obama (D). A panel of experts then joins the audience to answer their questions. The panelists are: State Representative Karen Carter Peterson; Charlie Davis, campaign director for the Louisiana Republican Party; and John Maginnis, political author and nationally syndicated columnist. They discuss: how each candidate will address the economy, education, health care, and tax reform, and the benefits each candidate will bring for Louisiana’s citizens.
