A speech by Dr. Jeffrey Keller before the Baton Rouge Rotary Club on February 18, 2015. Dr. Keller is the director of the Institute for Dementia Research and Prevention at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge. He discusses: Alzheimer’s disease; the demographic changes that will dramatically affect Alzheimer’s over the next 30 years; the lack of effective treatments for the disease; and the research currently underway at Pennington. He also answers questions from the audience concerning genetic factors and the characteristics that distinguish Alzheimer’s from other forms of dementia.
