Description

A speech by Congressman Garret Graves before the Baton Rouge Press Club on August 5, 2019. Graves represents Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District. He discusses: his disagreement with the partisanship and divisiveness in Washington, D.C.; the bipartisan legislation he was worked on during his time in Congress; the importance of reforming Louisiana’s tax code in order to encourage economic development; the need to address Louisiana’s high rate of lawsuits in order to lower auto insurance rates; climate change and coastal erosion; the United States’ efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by transitioning to natural gas; and Louisiana’s opportunity to become a leader in exporting natural gas. He also answers questions from the audience on a variety of topics, including gun control, the national debt, the Mueller Report, and flood control funding.
