Description
A speech by representatives of Capital Area Human Services before the Baton Rouge Press Club on July 18, 2016. The speakers are: Dr. Jan Kasofsky, the executive director; Dr. Aneida Udofa, the medical director; and Tonja Miles, the community outreach specialist. In the wake of the shooting death of Alton Sterling by two Baton Rouge police officers on July 5th and the death of three police officers in an ambush on July 17th, they discuss: the mental health services available to the community through Capital Area Human Services; strategies for helping adults and children cope with difficult situations; when to seek help from a mental health professional; and the importance of self-care. They also answer questions from the audience.
