Description

A debate at the Baton Rouge Press Club on November 9, 2015, between the two run-off candidates for Governor: State Representative John Bel Edwards (D) and United States Senator David Vitter (R). The debate begins with each candidate’s opening statement. Members of the press then ask the candidates questions on the following topics: the impact of Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne’s endorsement of Edwards; the negative tone of the campaign; Edwards’ campaign ad claiming Vitter “Chose Prostitutes Over Patriots”; their plans for calling a Special Session of the Legislature to deal with the state budget; changing dedicated funds and tax credits within the state budget; strengthening the Board of Regents; reforming criminal sentencing; Edwards’ voting record; and their position on the Paycheck Protection Act and Right to Work. The debate ends with each candidate’s closing statement.
