Description
A debate held before the Baton Rouge Press Club on August 9, 2010, between three candidates for the United States Senate: Justice Chet D. Traylor (R), Dr. Nick J. Accardo (R), and lawyer Cary J. Deaton (D). Jim Engster, a political analyst and talk show host, moderates the debate and members of the press ask the candidates questions. After their opening statements, the candidates answer questions on the following topics: federal government spending in regards to the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and the Gold Standard; media advertising; and the federal non-discrimination act. United States Senator David Vitter (R), the incumbent, and United States Representative Charlie Melancon (D) were not in attendance.
