Description
This segment from the “What’s in a Name, Part 2” episode of the series “Lost Louisiana” from March 20, 2006, features Charlie Whinham’s visit to Mount Lebanon in Bienville Parish. He talks to town historian Elizabeth Towns about the town’s eight founding families from South Carolina, the Biblical origins of the town’s name, and the history of Mount Lebanon University. Whinham also visits the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, which was built in 1837, and talks to resident Ruby Grubbs about the church serving as the heart of the town. Lastly, Whinham tours the town’s historic homes, including “The Dogtrot” with owner P.F. Eaton.
