Shehee, who served in the Louisiana Senate from 1976-1980, was the first woman elected to the Senate without succeeding a husband. She is also the CEO of Kilpatrick Life Insurance and Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Homes, as well as a community activist and philanthropist in her hometown of Shreveport.
