Description
This segment from the November 8, 2014, episode of the series “Art Rocks!” features producer Donna LaFleur’s visit to the George Rodrigue Retrospective at the Rodrigue Gallery in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She interviews Jacques Rodrigue, the painter’s son and a curator of the exhibit. He discusses: his father’s early career; his paintings depicting Cajun culture; the origin of the Blue Dog; his special Blue Dog painting following the 9/11 terrorist attacks; his Blue Dog Relief prints following Hurricane Katrina; and his establishment of the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts to encourage the arts in education.
