This episode of the “Louisiana History Bee” from June 29, 2003, features highlights of Beth Courtney hosting the 2003 statewide competition for junior high students in Louisiana. The participants were: Josh Albritton, 7th grade, from Farmerville Junior High in Farmerville, Louisiana; Christopher Eldredge, 8th grade, from Caddo Middle Magnet in Shreveport, Louisiana; Justin Goodfriend, 7th grade, from W.W. Lewis Middle School in Sulphur, Louisiana; Collin Goodman, 8th grade, from Catholic High of Pointe Coupee in New Roads, Louisiana; Chase B. Harvey, 7th grade, from Evans Middle School in Evans, Louisiana; Angelle Lyons, 8th grade, from Montegut Middle School in Montegut, Louisiana; Lauren Marks, 8th grade, from Church Point Middle in Church Point, Louisiana; Claire Naus, 8th grade, from Southfield School in Shreveport, Louisiana; Douglas Prater, 7th grade, from J.D. Meisler Middle School in Metairie, Louisiana; and Matthew Turner, 7th grade, from Leesville Junior High in Leesville, Louisiana. Each contestant was awarded a U.S. Savings Bond along with the first, second and third place winners receiving an additional savings bond. This program was preserved through a 2022-2023 Public Broadcasting Preservation Fellowship.
