Description
This episode of the series “En Francais” from November 26, 1983, features Le Theatre Cadien’s performance of the play “Le Medecin Malgre Lui.” The play, a Cajun adaptation of Moliere’s 1666 play, pokes fun at the doctors of the time by turning a poor woodcutter into “the doctor in spite of himself.” Le Theatre Cadian is a local theater group in Lafayette, Louisiana, that produces and performs plays in the Cajun French dialect. This episode was preserved through a 2018 CLIR Recordings at Risk Grant.
