He first visits the Art Car Parade in Houston, Texas, where cars are decorated with found objects. He also interviews: Dr. Bill Rathje, a garbologist at the University of Arizona in Tucson, who discusses landfills; Larry Graff, Doug Greenfield, and Mark Nolan of the Banana Slug String Band, who discuss recycling; George Way, a civil engineer, and Mark Wingfield, a recycling plant manager, in Phoenix, who discuss Arizona’s tire recycling program; and Andy Simon, a home renovator, who discusses how he uses recycled objects in his projects. The student reporters also create a composting pile and reduce their source waste during a shopping trip.
